Love is in The Air by Sharon Kleve

Blurb:

Sophie Grant made a promise to her friend. She loves the comfort of her book store and has no desire what-so-ever to go on an adventure—not when she can read about them every day in a book.
But a promise is a promise.

After sticking a pin in a map she heads off to the Colorado Rockies.

High in the Colorado Rockies, world renowned photographer Jonas Hansen is healing from a personal loss. Will Sophie’s kind nature, love of photography, and beautiful smile make Jonas whole again?

Excerpt:

Sophie climbed the stairs and Jonas held the door open for her. He didn't leave a lot of room to get by and she could feel his breath across her neck as their bodies brushed. He removed the pack from her shoulder after she stepped inside and one of the straps snapped.
"That's a new backpack. I can't believe that just happened." At first, Sophie felt embarrassed, and then mad that her pack didn’t even last a day before something broke.
He laughed and pointed to a picnic-bench-style table. "Don't worry. I can fix it. Have a seat. Would you like a cup of coffee?"
Sophie took a deep breath and replied, "I'd love a cup. Heavy on the cream please." She sat and zipped her pocket before she removed her coat. Sophie didn't want any of her precious feathers to float away.
"That's how I drink my coffee, but I only have the powdered stuff. Is that all right?" Jonas asked as he laid her pack on the table.
"Sure. I'm not picky. I usually drink it out of my secondhand Mr. Coffee machine." Sophie had a hard time keeping her eyes off of Jonas. He took off his jacket and his large shoulders pulled at the fabric of his shirt, emphasizing the muscles in his back and arms. Talk about being unprofessional. She needed to stop ogling his body. To distract herself, she looked around the building. The interior reminded Sophie of a miniature ski lodge, except hiking poles and backpacks hung on the walls instead of skis and goggles.
"Here you go. The coffee is hot, but not necessarily good." His hand brushed hers as he pulled away.
"I'll take it hot over good any day." Too late, she realized how that might've sounded. The heat rose in her cheeks as she clarified, "I meant I like my coffee served hot."

Sharon Kleve was born and raised in Washington and currently lives on the Olympic Peninsula with her husband.

Sharon is a writer of paranormal and contemporary romance. She loves romance. She loves reading romance, living romance, and especially loves writing about romance. She gets no greater feeling than watching her characters come alive in each other's arms. Most of all, she loves giving her characters the happily ever after they deserve—with a few bumps and bruises along the way.

One of her favorite things to do is picking up a new book and sinking into the story, immersing herself in the emotions between the characters. She hopes to inspire her readers the same way her favorite authors have inspired her.

When not writing, she can usually be found either curled up in her recliner with her cat and a good book, or in the kitchen baking sourdough bread or bagels.

Excerpt!
He rested his hands on her shoulders, but didn’t say anything.
“This is where I make my stand,” she told him.  “If I don’t, I know I’ll regret it for the rest of my life.  I have a chance to make a difference, to get justice for Philip.”
He let out a breath.  “I know about wanting to make a difference, but what if you don’t make it out?  Is it worth your life?”  He gently turned her around to face him.  “Because I don’t know if it is.”
She held her hand to his cheek, her brown eyes intense and searching his face.  Putting a hand at the back of her neck, he pulled her to him, brushing his lips over hers.  Her arms slid around his neck and she melted into his arms.  His feelings that he hadn’t consciously admitted he had for her surged to the surface and his mouth pressed into hers, no longer gentle.  She responded with just as much fire and Colby could barely suppress a groan.  His hand slipped to her back, running the length of it.  His entire body felt like there was nothing else, just her, and without her there was nothing.

The Shard of Palrinah: Book 2 of The Remus Rothwyn Chronicles by T.P. Grish

After saving High Peaks from a devastating war between Humankind and Fey, Remus and Elaina head to the grand city of Yondern to continue their adventures, yearning for excitement and the chance to do good.

However, the long-brewing political conflict between the Steelwielders and Paragonites has erupted into open war, and try as they might, the travelers cannot escape the eye of suspicious factions. Once-friendly factions have turned wary, and they find themselves allying with those who they would least expect.

An old friend, the bard Perfidian, confronts them with troubling information, hinting at a deeper objective to the brewing war, and possibly to an object of power that could wreak devastation upon the land in the hands of the power-hungry.

The three friends must discover what the Steelwielder technocrats and Paragonite monks are truly seeking in a remote corner of Glenryth, in a deadly game of cat and mouse involving dark and sinister forces, both Human and otherwise.

This is the sequel to Book 1, Steel, Magick and Faith!

Excerpt!

'A dead end, but in the right wall there was a small, rough-hewn crevice. Resting in it was a small chest, old and dusty, but bedecked in timeless jewels and the intricate designs their proud ancestors had mastered. A chill went down Renaldin’s spine as he considered the weight of this event, and the worthy ancient hands that had crafted the chest, and this place.

Whatever Boon lay in the chest, it had been placed there by the first Disciples of the faith, back when the Paragonites were stronger and purer. He did not feel worthy. Fingers trembling, he opened the chest.

It was not locked, but groaned under the weight of rust and dust. As it opened, a cloud of dust blinded Renaldin and choked him. Coughing, he waved the dust from his face and stared into the chest.

It was a simple scroll, nothing more. Gently picking it up and unfurling it, he started to read the calligraphed script. It seemed to be a riddle.

‘In The Aerie Of The Long-Dead Eagle, Lies The Nest Of Gold.
Atop The Shrouded Plateau, Rests The Warrior Of Old.

Between The Two Lies A Gully Deep, Locked Away In The Icy Reaches.

Within Lies Treasure Of Virtue Untold, Waiting For A Worthy Hand.

To Bring Its Thunder Upon The World,
And Rally The Hopes Of Man’

Renaldin stood in awe, his mind spinning. This simple scroll was greater than any gift they could have prayed for. It was clear that it gave instructions as to the location of the Shard of Palrinah, the most holy artifact in the history of the Temple, and wielded by St. Palrinah herself in battle! The scroll gave its directions in a riddle, but gave clear ideas which landmarks they should be looking for to find it. Renaldin thought it obvious that the Icy Reaches referred to the Aysalk Ranges, an arctic mountain range which ancient Paragonites had, at times, traversed.

Riddle or not, they were being given the chance to find and acquire the Shard of Palrinah, one of the few remaining artefacts in existence! It made sense that they would be required to search for it. Palrinah did not favour the weak or hesitant, and simply placing the Shard in the catacombs for future generations to use would have been unworthy of it.'

Ixeos Rebellion by Jennings Wright

ixeos reb
Ixeos Rebellion

With rebel leader Darian free at last, the humans and outsiders on Ixeos must find a way to join forces and defeat the Firsts.

The problem? All slaves are tracked with GPS, the Firsts are the only ones with power, and roving gangs hate the rebels just as much as they hate the aliens. As Darian and the outsiders from Earth travel the globe through the mysterious tunnels in Paris, they learn that the Firsts are preparing to launch another wave of biological warfare. With a transporter that will allow the aliens to target any city, anywhere on the planet, the rebels know they must stop them at all costs.

As things get more dangerous on Ixeos, the outsiders find that they're pushed to their limit. Will they fight for freedom, no matter the price?

Ixeos

The McClellands are enjoying a lazy summer vacation at the beach when they are lured from our world into Ixeos, an alternate Earth. Finding themselves lost in a maze of tunnels under Paris and surrounded by strangers, they discover that they have been brought to Ixeos for one purpose: to take the planet back from humanoid aliens who have claimed it.

With the aid of the tunnels and a mysterious man named Landon, the teens travel the world seeking the key that will allow them to free Darian, the long-imprisoned rebel leader. But the aliens aren't the only problem on Ixeos -- the McClellands have to deal with brutal gangs, desperate junkies, and a world without power, where all the technology is owned by the aliens, and where most of the population has been killed or enslaved.

The worst part? There's no way home.
